Mirror mirror on the … wall

The beautiful tree

by the lake

seems too engrossed,

staring at it’s own image

in the mirror top

of the lake.

I wonder

what goes in its mind;

a pleasant, self-satisfied feeling? Maybe.

In utter disbelief,

it reaches out and softly touches

the reflection

to reassure itself, it’s real

not imagination, nor a dream.

I know it’s crazy, too funny,

but could it possibly be

asking, shyly –

‘Mirror mirror on the lake wall,

who is the fairest of all?’

I can guess the mirror’s answer!
